PROJECT ENGINEER
Staco Systems, a well established design and manufacturing company in Irvine, CA, has a current opening for a Project Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for a lead engineer looking to expand their technical abilities and enhance their project management skills.
Responsibilities
This position will be held accountable for the development and implementation of project plans, which define primary deliverables with associated responsibilities, timing, dependencies, risks and mitigations, and costs in support of customer and solution objectives. The Project Engineer will work with manufacturing engineers to develop cost effective assembly processes in our facility. As a member of our talented engineering group you will also be responsible for the mechanical design of new products and the improvement of existing Staco switches, as well as participate in the testing of Staco switches, as needed. This position is expected to work closely with our document control department to assign part numbers to each switch and drawing, as well as create the BOM structure for transfer to manufacturing. The ideal candidate will be able to generate drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks software
As the department lead, this position is expected to work with and drive all Staco departments to facilitate the development of a project plan with clearly defined deliverables, resource requirements, cost estimates, and milestone timelines. This position will also provide timely communication to management on developments, which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.
Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 10 years of experience in electro-mechanical product development of a manufacturing company. The design experience of military mechanical switch with backlight features is highly preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience using Solidworks software with familiarity and knowledge of utilizing multiple model and assembly configurations.
- Ability to manage models and drawings using Solidworks PDM or Solidworks Enterprise PDM.
- Proven track records of developing products that have been released in the market are strongly desired.
- Technical proficiency in ruggedized product design and familiarity of military specifications.
- Experience with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly with a working knowledge of mechanical fits and tolerances, ANSI Y14.5M – 1994.
- PMI Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) is highly preferred.
Job Skills & Experience Required:
- Experience designing shop tooling and fixtures.
- Hands-on, including set-up, programming, processing and troubleshooting.
- Manufacturing experience in the metalworking industry, injection molding and machine parts.
- Experience in managing all technical aspects of product development.
In addition to the above qualifications, the selected candidate will be a team player, with excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with various departments and all levels of personnel with diplomacy and emotional maturity. Technical leadership and support for multiple projects, while operating within strict timelines and budget constraints. The selected candidate will be able to make independent decisions and set priorities based on technical and business trade-offs. This employee must be self-motivated, project and schedule driven, and able to perform tasks with minimum supervision.
